hydrogen office, building a sustainable future using renewable energy

Green Hydrogen

Hydrogen can be generated from a number of sources. The Hydrogen Office will generate ‘green hydrogen’ from renewable sources as shown below, though any renewable energy sources can be used. The process generates no carbon dioxide or other pollutants.
Hydrogen Production

i) Energy is generated from renewable energy sources. Excess renewable energy is then used to generate hydrogen from water through the process of electrolysis. The only by-product of this process being oxygen.
Fuel Cell

iii) The Fuel Cell generates electricity and heat through an electrochemical process, which does not involve burning the hydrogen. The only other by-product of this process is pure water (which is clean enough to drink!)
Hydrogen Storage

ii) The hydrogen is then stored. The most common method currently used, is to store the hydrogen as a compressed gas, though there is currently a research drive to identify more cost effective alternatives.
